Biddenden’s Gamay Noir 2018 has been picked by John Clarke as one of the Best still English wines for the Independent. The wine, which has been released following last year’s bumper harvest, is described as “light-bodied, easy-drinking gamay noir is similar in style to pinot noir, with its cherry and plum flavours and light floral notes.”
This wine has only been produced a handful of times by Biddenden, when the growing conditions are perfect, with the last release being in 2011. It is a light, summery wine which is made using 100% Gamay Noir, all of which is grown on the Biddenden estate at hand picked at peak ripeness.
John Clarke suggests “It will go with everything from roast chicken to pork belly and on a warm day can be enjoyed lightly chilled.” The full article may be read on the Independent’s website.
