The Biddenden team is celebrating after another successful Food Day in aid of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. The 10th annual “Taste the Best of Produced in Kent” Food Day was set to be a wash out with the heavens opening as the producers arrived to set up, but despite this over 1,200 braved the wet weather to show their support and enthusiasm for local produce.
An impressive grand total of £4,555.50 was raised for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance from a combination of stall holders’ fees and donations, visitors’ donations, the Win a Mini raffle and the hamper raffle.
Congratulations to Jane Summerfield, Boughton Leas, Charlotte Friend, Tunbridge Wells and Adam Phillips, Singleton, who were the lucky winners of the three hampers, which were filled to the brim with a wonderful selection of Kentish goodies.
We would like to thank all the stall holders who attended and those who donated including: Nelson Brewery; Beult House Bees; Farmhouse Kitchen; Potash Farm; Godmersham Game; Enzo’s Bakery; Dine thyme; Anno Distillers; Samovar Foods; Kent Chilli Farm; S.W. Doughty; Invicta Herbs; The Only Way is Coffee; Hinxden Dairy; O’er the Moon. The Rare Breeds Centre; Kent Collection; St Applehurst Roast; Little Omenden Farm; Wooden Spoon; and The French Revolution.
Sally Barnes, director, commented: “This year we were truly flattered by the amount of people who showed their support for our food day despite the daunting wet weather. Thank you to all who came along and to the stall holders for their continued enthusiasm and donations towards the raffle. It is wonderful to be able to showcase such a fantastic range of Kentish produce and to see how many people are passionate about buying local.”
Stephanie Durling at Produced in Kent comments: “The wonderful array of businesses selling fabulous Kentish products at Biddenden’s annual event is one of the highlights of the year and one that Produced in Kent has always been proud to be part of.”
