Biddenden Gamay Noir 2018 has been awarded Silver at this year’s International Wine & Spirits competition. The awards, which are also celebrating their 50th year, are regarded as the international benchmark for quality, see over 400 judges from around the world with entries from over 90 countries.
As well as undergoing an in depth tasting, each wine also undergoes a chemical analysis, making the awards extremely thorough and unique in their approach. Wines are then awarded points, with Biddenden Gamay Noir 2018 receiving 90 points and therefore a silver medal.
The judges’ comments were that the wine is “Youthful bright purple with viscosity. The fruit is crunchy in style, showing mixed berry notes with slight herbal undertones. Hint of sweetness, with good grip and finish.”
Biddenden Gamay is only produced during exceptional years, such as 2018 where growing conditions are perfect to produce this single varietal wine. It is available to buy direct from the vineyard shop as well as online for home delivery, though stocks are limited.
