A lot has been happening here at Biddenden throughout the summer months. The vineyard team have been working hard keeping the vines maintained and healthy and the prolonged extreme heat and sunshine have been the perfect conditions for the grapes. Veraison in the red grapes – when they turn from green to red – is well underway in the Dornfelder, Gamay and Pinot Noir and harvesting of our signature variety, Ortega, has begun this week! We can’t wait to see what this year’s harvest brings, it’s a really exciting time of year. The whole years work comes into the winery to continue its journey into the wines we look forward to releasing in spring 2023.
Ciders and juices have been bottled and labelled with our bag in box Cloudy Apple Juice now back in stock and Sparkling Apple Juice returning to the shelves in the next few weeks. Register here to be the first to hear when this is back in stock.
Our Self-Guided tours are still open and available until the end of the September. With no pre-booking required, our Self-Guided Tours run daily throughout the summer months, in line with the Vineyard Shop opening hours. Just £10 per person, the Self-Guided Tour includes entry to the vineyard walk, a Self-Guided Tour booklet and a flight of 3 tastings of any wines, ciders or juices of your choice. September is always a great time to visit us as you have the chance to see the grapes in their final developmental stages and harvest taking place first hand.
We still have some availability on our Private Guided Tours before the season comes to an end. Biddenden’s Private Guided Tours offer the chance to learn more about Kent’s original vineyard, and are available by pre-booking via our website. Bookings run from Wednesday to Saturday for small groups of up to 8 people. Your tour guide will take you on an informative guided walk around the vineyard with an insight into our winery, followed by tastings of 3 selected wines and 1 wine of your choice.
