Biddenden Sparkling Apple Juice has been awarded ‘Kent Non-Alcoholic Drink of the Year’ at this year’s Taste of Kent Awards.
Organised by Produced in Kent, the awards aim to celebrate the very best of food & drink from the Garden of England and sees the coming together of the finest producers, farmers, retailers, and hospitality businesses from Kent. Following the first round of public voting to determine the finalists, it was down to industry specialists to judge the best tasting creations from across the county.
Biddenden Sparkling Apple Juice was shortlisted as one of just three finalists who went through to face the judges for their category, including a taste test of each finalist product. Produced using 100% Kent apples, it is the UK’s first and only sparkling apple juice made using just pure apples – no added water or sugar and not from concentrates. The judges commented that the juice is “Refreshing, lively, well made and well balanced, a lovely crisp apple juice.”
After enormous support for Kent food and drink during the recent pandemic, Floortje Hoette, Chief Executive of Produced in Kent, applauded the outstanding standard of this year’s finalists. “The judges and I were blown away by the exceptional quality of food and drink we have here in Kent, and it’s wonderful to see the support for buying local hasn’t faded post-pandemic. They have shown innovation, diversification, sustainable practices, and immense talent within their specialist fields, it makes me enormously proud to spotlight these Kent businesses.”
