We are delighted to release Biddenden Gamay Noir 2020, a limited edition small release red wine which is light with rich varietal characteristics.
Produced using hand selected grapes, which are fermented as whole bunches on the skins before undergoing a second pressing, ensuring high fruity aromas & taste along with a striking colour.
Presented in a distinctive bottle, we recommend this wine is best served chilled and is the perfect choice for a picnic, BBQ or meeting with friends & family al fresco.
Our Gamay Noir vines were planted at Biddenden in 1985, and are well established, producing a red grape of exceptional quality. Pair this quality with modern and innovative winemaking techniques, and we are able to produce a wine which is similar to a Beaujolais Nouveau in style, but with our own English twist.
Our previous vintages have won much acclaim, having been medal winners at both the International Wine & Spirits Awards and WineGB Awards.
Biddenden Gamay Noir has also received praise from Jancis Robinson who described the 2009 vintage as “super juicy and refreshing” saying “this light red wine stood out for how sweetly it sang the song of Gamay”. Meanwhile, our 2018 vintage was included in John Clarke’s round up of the best English still wines for the independent, describing it as “easy drinking”, highlighting its “cherry and plum flavours” and suggesting enjoying the wine lightly chilled.
Just 2,000 bottles have been produced from the 2020 vintage, which is available direct from our vineyard shop as well as online for nationwide home delivery by the case & bottle via our online shop.
