Over 300 tickets were snapped up for a guided vineyard tour followed by an exclusive cider, juice & local cheese tasting here at Biddenden as part of Visit Kent’s twelfth annual Kent Big Weekend.
The Kent Big Weekend, which ran over the weekend of 24th & 25th March aims to encourage local residents to explore attractions on their doorstep and marks the start of the tourist season as well as rounding off English Tourism week.
Ticket holders were treated to a tour of the vineyard to hear more on the history of family owned Biddenden and the methods used for growing & producing our award-winning wines, ciders & juices, followed by a look around the winery & at both the grape and apple presses.
The tour finished off in the winery with tastings of local cheeses from Cheesemakers of Canterbury, Winterdale Cheesemakers, Ellie’s Dairy and Kingcott Dairy paired with specially selected Biddenden still & sparkling ciders and farm pressed juices.
Sally Barnes, Director at Biddenden, said “We were very proud to be able to be part of Visit Kent’s Big Weekend and are passionate about encouraging local Kent residents to get out & explore attractions such as Biddenden which can be found right on their doorstep. We received lots of positive feedback from ticket holders who joined the tours and look forward to welcoming more visitors to the vineyard over the coming months.”
The vineyard is open to visitors throughout the year with free admission & tastings. Charity tours run every Saturday and on Wednesdays from June-September, or private guided tours may be booked for a more personalised experience.
